Bowen therapy is a physical practice that utilises small measured movements and changes in tension, to stimulate receptors on connective tissue, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves, sending messages to the brain to deactivate the stress response (fight, flight, freeze) and to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest), thereby stimulating the body to heal itself.
Bowen therapy is practiced all over the world for both acute and chronic health problems and is a favourite hands on modality for those who participate in regular physical exercise because it supports the body in it's recovery.
Given that Bowen is such a gentle practice, it is suitable for everyone, from new-borns to the elderly and everyone in between, whether it be for a specific musculoskeletal or neuromuscular health challenge or simply to provide relief from the build up of day to day stress and tension in the mind/body.
Bowen is an excellent practice for those who work in high stress roles with constant stress response activation, hence the reason that we are adding it to our stress management/relaxation/restoration toolbox.
Our Wellbeing Practitioner Caz is currently studying Bowen Therapy and will complete her certification in November, 2023. Until that time she is required to complete 130 hours of practice between June and November and would like to extend an offer of thanks and appreciation to all Emergency Services Workers/First Responders and their families, to book in for FREE sessions during that time!
